Meet Your Historical Interpreter

Hello! I’m Adam Young, the founder and lead historical interpreter behind Historical Perspectives.

My journey into living history didn’t start in a classroom, it started at a historic site. In 2001, at 11 years old, I donned a red coat as a drummer boy at Fort King George State Historic Site in Darien, Georgia. That early experience sparked a lifelong commitment to historical education. Throughout my middle and high school years, I volunteered off and on at Fort King George, learning firsthand how tangible, hands-on history can ignite a student’s imagination.

Preserving & Interpreting Coastal History

After high school, I deepened my involvement in public history as a State Park Ambassador through the America’s State Parks foundation. Over the years, I logged volunteer hours supporting all six Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites along the coast, while also contributing volunteer service to national park sites, including: Fort Frederica National Monument (St. Simons Island, GA), Moores Creek National Battlefield (Currie, NC), Castillo de San Marcos National Monument (St. Augustine, FL), and Congaree National Park (Hopkins, SC).

Professionally, my career in public history began as an Interpretive Ranger at Wormsloe State Historic Site in Savannah, Georgia. From there, I transitioned into the private sector at Camp Flintlock, where I spent seven years serving as Assistant Director, leading their mobile field trip operations and summer camp programs across the region.

When I returned home in 2020, I set out to launch Historical Perspectives. While the initial launch was paused due to the 2020 COVID lockdowns, 2026 brings the official rollout of my vision: providing mobile, 18th-century living history programs directly to schools, museums, and community events.
